On May 9, Narva Museum placed a poster featuring a double portrait of Vladimir Putin and Adolf Hitler on the wall of Hermann Fortress, facing Russia, with the caption: "PUTLER WAR CRIMINAL."
Russia celebrates the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany on Friday, May 9. As in previous years, Russia has installed screens along the Narva River facing Estonia, broadcasting their usual propaganda concert.
Narva Museum has used the poster depicting Putin as a war criminal in previous years as well.
May 9 is marked differently on each side of the Narva River: Narva celebrates Europe Day, while Ivangorod (city just over the Narva river facing Estonia) in Russia commemorates Victory Day, which for Baltic States resonates with many decades of Soviet occupation and atrocities against Baltic people that started during and after the end of WWII.
